johndoyleThis accompanist almost needs no introduction. We are pleased to announce that John Doyle has agreed to take the Accompaniment teaching slot for 2018 PIMW in place of Matt Heaton, who has a family issue that he needs to attend to this year.

You can name just about any major project in Irish Traditional Music, and it’s a good bet that John Doyle was involved with it somehow! John is maybe best known for being a founder of the band Solas, and his many recordings and tours with Liz Carroll, but that is just the tip of the iceberg of his accomplishments. He has also worked extensively with Eileen Ivers, Karan Casey, Michael Black, Mary Black, the trio of McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle, The Teetotalers (Martin Hayes, Kevin Crawford, John Doyle), and now Usher’s Island (Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Mike McGoldrick, Paddy Glackin and John Doyle). Top it off with a couple of solo guitar albums featuring songs and wonderful tune playing on guitar, and John really is the whole package!
