Greetings, friends of Portal Irish Music Week!
The time of year has arrived where we finally roped the staff into putting together a list of Core Tunes for this year’s camp.
These tunes are not mandatory to learn, and it’s likely that you know a lot of them already. These are all tunes that you might find out in sessions, and they’re all good ones to introduce to your session, if they aren’t already played! We do this each year to give the camp some tunes in common for sessions, and your instructors may play them with you in class or in your private lesson, to show you how they would approach the tunes.
You’ll notice a few things about this year’s tunes. First, there are more of them than usual! As we’ve watched the musicianship at camp increase year over year, we think you can handle it! The other thing you’ll notice is that this year’s list includes some Slides for the very first time!
You can find this year’s tunes (and all the previous years’ tunes) on our Core Tunes page.
Looking forward to seeing you in September!
Sincerely,
Susan, Pete, and the entire PIMW 2026 Staff
