Tenor Banjo Class
During the week, students will undertake an in-depth exploration of playing Irish traditional music on tenor banjo. Topics will include both right hand and left hand techniques, melodic and rhythmic variation, and use of instrument dynamics. The goal will be to learn ways to take banjo playing beyond the ordinary, and explore the possibilities of the banjo for musical expression, in ways that can both mimic other traditional instruments, as well as add a unique voice to the chorus of a session environment. Techniques will be taught by way of practical use in some specially chosen tunes.
