Beginner Fiddle
This course will focus on developing good habits that can accelerate your progress as a fiddler. We will work on strategies for tune-learning, and playing with good tempo, intonation and phrasing. Techniques that lead to comfortable playing and a lyrical Irish style will be emphasized.
Concertina
This workshop will be tailored to the level of the students. To start, we will work on fingering patterns on the 3-row anglo concertina that smooth out common phrases, and make possible the later addition of ornamentation and chords. Each key has its own tricks and challenges, so expect to learn a variety of tunes in different keys as a fun way to practice as many of them as possible. More advanced students will also learn how to add chords and ornamentation that fit each tune.
