Greetings to all the friends of Portal Irish Music Week!
Here’s hoping that 2024 finds you healthy and happy as we head into the busiest season for people who love Irish traditional music!
We have announced our staff for the 2024 camp coming up September 19-23, 2024 at the Black Range Lodge in Kingston, New Mexico. As you know, we try to keep our staff as consistent as possible because a lot of our students enjoy developing a rapport with instructors over time. And this year is no different! The 2024 staff lineup is:
Brian Conway – Advanced Fiddle
Marla Fibish – Mandolin I & II
Shannon Heaton – Flute/Whistle
Pete Strickler – Tenor Banjo
Frances Cunningham – Accompaniment
Colin Lindsay – Concertina & “Not So Fast” Fiddle
We have had several requests for offering accordion, and while we don’t have one planned this year, Johnny B. Connolly has agreed to teach at our 2025 camp.
General registration will open on March 1. As has been the case for the last few years, registering for the Camp and the Lodging/Meals will be done separately via email/phone.
Camp Registration: Susan – portalirishmusicweek@gmail.com
Lodging/Meals: Cat – cat@blackrangelodge.com
If you have attended Portal in the past, you will be given an opportunity to register in the days before general registration opens. Watch your email for a message from Susan about that.
We don’t tell you enough how much we appreciate your support and friendship over the years! Portal Irish Music Week has become what it is because of you!
We look forward to seeing you in New Mexico this September!
Sincerely,
Susan, Pete, and the entire PIMW Staff.
