2018 Portal Irish Music Week “Core Tunes” Announced

Published by Pete on

Hi folks,

The 2018 P.I.M.W. is rapidly approaching, and we’ve finally wrangled the staff and put together our Core Tune list for 2018. Once again, many of these tunes will already be familiar, but if not, they’re great ones to learn! They give us a common repertoire in sessions, and your instructors may spend some time talking about them and showing you how they play the tunes. These will be great tunes to take back home to your own sessions!

Audio files are available on the website.

The tunes are:

Reels

  • The Sally Gardens
  • The Abbey Reel

Jigs

  • Swans Among The Rushes
  • Condon’s Favourite
  • Rolling Waves – Lonesome Jig
  • Rolling Waved – Humours of Trim

Slip Jigs

  • The Boys of Ballysadare
  • The Dusty Miller

Hornpipe

  • The Smell of the Bog

Waltz

  • Far Away

We’ve got a great camp coming up in October, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you!

Sincerely,

Susan, Pete, and the P.I.M.W. Staff
